Orientations allowed

Description:

During the calculation for the optimal loading plan the algorithm can place the items with their height directed upwards, or turn them on their side of edge, in order to maximize loading density. The given feature limits rotation of the items during loading and transport.
The choice of allowable orientation occurs separately for each SKU. In total, there can be 4 combinations of orientation for placing the items, which is determined by 2 independent switches:

  • “Fix h.” – fix height. The height of the item will always be directed vertically;
  • “Fix l.” – fix length. The length of the item will always be directed parallel to the line of vehicle’s travel.

Warning: It is important to remember that limiting the orientation of the cargo items significantly reduces the number of ways to load the cargo into the vehicle and can lead to a decreased loading density. These parameters should only be used with good reason.

“Fix h.” = ON, “Fix l.” = ON

The height of the item is fixed vertically and the length of the item is fixed to be parallel to the vehicle’s path of travel. The item has only 1 degree of freedom.

“Fix h.” = ON, “Fix l.” = OFF

The height of the item is fixed vertically. The item has 2 degrees of freedom. Used when cargo item cannot be placed on its side.

“Fix h.” = OFF, “Fix l.” = ON

The length of the item is fixed to be parallel to the vehicle’s path of travel. The item has 2 degrees of freedom. Usually used when loading long, narrow boxes, such as those that contain pipes, tripods, etc. They are placed parallel to vehicle’s line of travel to increase their stability. This is widely used when packing sheets of glass. This parameter may also be used if the loader is physically limited in maneuvering with the cargo.

“Fix h.” = OFF, “Fix l.” =OFF

There are no constraints on the cargo’s orientation. The items has 6 degrees of freedom.
